Portugal: Sardines and the Sea
2016 / 2 min. 10 sec. / English
Every time we are able to go to Portugal we try to shoot some footage to capture Portuguese culture. While we were at the 2015 Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival to receive an award for Vision of Light we were able to shoot footage at the local harbor of Sesimbra. We use these travel docs as a fun way to try out new techniques and Sardines and the Sea is no different. We always wanted to try out the Ken Burns and Parallax techniques so we combined creative commons photographs with the footage we shot to tell the story about the feast of St. Anthony, which is held every year.
The resulting documentary was our most successful yet, winning 1st prize in the category of Religious Tourism at the Finisterra Arrábida Film Art & Tourism Festival of 2016 and was selected to three others, including the Amorgos festival where it was part of the special selection!
